She also offers telemedicine appointments to individuals throughout North Carolina. Contact the office to learn more, or book your house call or telehealth consultation online today

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine delivers medical care using online video conferencing technology. You simply use your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to connect with House Calls, LLC, at your appointment time, so there’s no need to travel.

The system uses secure encryption methods and conforms to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) regulations regarding personal information security. You can confidently engage with Laureen knowing no one can hear or see you except her.

What can I use telemedicine for?

You can use telemedicine for many purposes, including:

Chronic disease management

Chronic disease management can help with long-term health problems like cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, or heart disease.

Acute care

If you develop symptoms that don’t improve in a few days or worsen despite self-care measures, you can arrange a sick visit with Laureen using telemedicine. She can assess your symptoms by discussing them with you and looking at any physical problems (like a rash) using your device’s camera.

Addiction medicine

Addiction medicine programs combine counseling with medication that helps you through the withdrawal phase.

Pre- and post-op care

Laureen ensures you’re ready before surgery and helps you recover successfully afterward.

Lab test results

Laureen visits your home to take blood and other samples for testing, but she can discuss the results with you via telemedicine.

Medication management

Medications can be a vital part of your treatment plan, but all drugs can cause side effects that need monitoring. Laureen checks in with you periodically to ensure your medicines work as they should and changes them if they aren’t effective or cause distressing side effects.

What benefits does telemedicine offer over in-person visits?

One of telemedicine’s main benefits is its convenience. Instead of driving or arranging transport to visit Laureen in person, you simply log in to the virtual waiting room. Telemedicine is especially helpful if you live far from House Calls, LLC, you’re unwell, have a mental health problem, or a disability affects your mobility.

Telemedicine also has cost advantages. You don’t need to take time off work to travel, and if you have caring responsibilities, you don’t need to pay someone to cover them. There are no fuel, parking, or public transport costs either.
